Paradox Lens: what it sends and what we keep
Paradox Lens is a Chrome extension for members. You give it a reference photo and it writes a short prompt for the ParadoxAI workflows. This page says exactly what leaves your browser, where it goes and what we keep.
What the extension sends
- A shrunken copy of the photo. The extension resizes the image in your browser to at most 1536 pixels on its longest side and sends that copy as a JPEG. The original file never leaves your computer.
- Your membership key. So our server can check that your membership is active and count the prompt against your plan. The key travels in the request body over HTTPS only.
- A random device id. Made once when you install the extension. Our server stores only a hashed form of it, so it can tell that two requests came from the same browser without knowing anything else about it.
- Your choices. The mode (Photo, Remix or Grid), the lock switches, the character word and any extra words you typed. Our server checks the extra words and adds them to the finished prompt itself: they are never sent to the AI model.
It sends nothing else: no page addresses, no browsing history, no analytics, no other images on the page. It only reads an image when you paste it, drop it, choose it, right-click it or snip it.
When you right-click an image, the extension first tries to download that same image again, at full size, from the address the website gives for it (often the website's own image server), so the prompt can see every detail. Dropping an image from another page downloads it the same way. That download goes straight from your browser to that address, without your cookies, and only the shrunken copy is sent to us. On Pinterest the extension has its own permission to download from Pinterest's image server (i.pinimg.com); on other websites it works when the website allows it. If the download is not allowed, a right-click uses a picture of the image on your screen instead.
Where it goes
The request goes to our server at getparadoxai.com. Our server passes the shrunken image and a fixed instruction to an AI model through Cloudflare AI Gateway. The models we use are from Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini); if the first does not answer, the second is tried. The image is sent to the model only to write the prompt. We send the model no personal details about you, and never your key.
What we keep
- The image: nothing. It is held in memory while the model answers and is not written to storage or logs.
- The finished prompt, with your extra words in it: 24 hours. So a retry after a connection problem returns the same prompt without counting it twice. After that it is cleared. Your extension keeps its own list of recent prompts on your computer, which you can clear in the panel.
- Counts and timings. How many prompts your membership used this month, when, which mode and which model answered, how long it took, and whether it succeeded, was declined or failed. Never the image, the prompt or the key.
- Device records. The hashed device id, a label such as "Chrome on Windows", and when it was first and last seen, shown to you on your Keys page so you can sign a browser out.
- Free trials: a code for your internet connection. When you start a free trial, we keep a one-way code made from your internet address with a secret key, never the address itself, so each connection gets one free trial. It stays with the trial record.
What the AI providers see
Anthropic and Google receive the shrunken image and the instruction for the time it takes to answer, under their API terms. We use their paid developer APIs, whose terms say customer content is not used to train their models by default. Their retention for abuse monitoring is set by them; check their current API terms for details.
Your control
- Sign a browser out from your Keys page at any time. Resetting your key signs out every device.
- Remove the extension from Chrome to delete its local storage (key, device id, settings and recent prompts).
- Email us to ask what we hold about your account or to have it deleted: hello@getparadoxai.com.
The general privacy notice covers your account, payments and emails.
